Significant media coverage and Internet comment during the past year or so has highlighted the fact that ordinary light bulbs– that’s the traditional incandescent types – are being withdrawn from general sale in the UK.

This has raised a number of issues, including the way in which the switch over from incandescent to low energy light bulbs has been handled by the Government, significant health & safety concerns, recycling challenges, the perceived economics of using the new types, and complaints about both performance and light quality.

In order to clarify the facts of what is clearly a complex scenario, Megaman – one of the world’s largest manufacturers of low energy lighting products - has produced a collection of five short videos. The videos, which have now been posted on the company’s website and on YouTube, each feature interviews with Adrian Kitching, the firm’s UK Sales Director. He explains simply how common misconceptions have complicated the current situation, and what the true facts are.
The five videos are:

• The Switch over from incandescent to low energy light bulbs

• Health & Safety Issues of low energy light bulbs

• Not all low energy light bulbs are dim, slow and unattractive

• How low energy light bulbs can save you money

• Recycling low energy light bulbs

All five videos may be seen on the Megaman Uk web site, or on YouTube.
